IFAC and the MOSAIC Steering committee are pleased to announce the organization of the Building Resilient and Sustainable Economies Forum which will be held online December 7 - 11, 2020.
The online forum will explore the opportunities for the accountancy profession to support responses to emergency situations and a strong public health sector and highlight the importance of accrual accounting in economic recovery. The outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent economic recession have required government interventions across the world. PAOs have the potential to support high-quality financial reporting in the public and private sectors and facilitate the transformation of public financial management. To harness these opportunities and fulfill their public interest responsibility, professional accountancy organizations (PAOs) need to be well resourced. Consequently, the Forum will also discuss the digital transformation of the accountancy profession as COVID-19 has accelerated reliance on technology, and how PAOs can engage with development partners in their respective jurisdictions.
